Do you make resolutions for the new year?  For me, everything seems at odds with the New Year… out of sync. Yes, our calendars claim this date is the beginning of a new year, but it falls at the most inopportune time… in the dead of winter (in this part of the world), when everything is dormant. And it is not even at the beginning of that “season”.

Out of Sync

Seems to me that a new year should start when new beginnings, new growth, new life bursts forth from the snow. When our Creator deemed life begins anew. Our bodies are out of sync, our minds out of sync and our lives out of sync with this Gregorian calendar!

Speaking of the Gregorian calendar, have you ever researched the Gregorian Calendar to see what the months are named for?  Days?  Have you researched how we ended up with months that don’t match their Latin roots (Sept does not mean nine, Oct does not mean ten, etc.)?  I have provided some links for you to do a quick study, but I encourage you to dig deeper.

I find it interesting that in scripture, the days of the week are just called the first day, the second day, all except Shabbat.  The Sabbath has always been the 7th day (and it was never changed). Confirmation.  The Sabbath is the Sabbath and was never changed.  Why do we not keep “the Sabbath” … since that is the seventh day’s hebrew name?  It is not ambiguous, or difficult.  The word “Sabbath” is used at least sixty times in the New Testament and in none of these instances is there even a hint that the Sabbath rest was to cease. I have heard many Christians say that Yeshua is their sabbath … but Yeshua himself said:

Mat 24:20  Pray that your flight may not be in winter, nor on the sabbath.

This does not make sense! This is one of the very reasons I am Messianic. Too much of what I was taught in church did not make sense and is in direct opposition to Scripture. I encourage you to not take my word for it either. Study the Word for yourself. When you arrive at something that does not make sense, study it out. Don’t leave your salvation to somebody else’s interpretation!

Out of Sync…. In the world but not of the world.  1 John 2.  Yeah, I’m thankful I am completely out of sync!

Shalom!!
